Amidst the sculptured sand bowls of Indian Head on Fraser Island, I felt like a stranger in a strange land. As the late afternoon light cast its shadows the ridges revealed their form, moulded by the fingers of the wind. I waited on the dunes until dusk, watching the sands dance before me. The evening light intensified, and I pressed the shutter. At that moment it seemed possible to me that I was the last man on earth.
