I spent days exploring Zion looking for the perfect shot, to capture the strength and grandeur of the park, with the fall colors contrasting against the glowing blood red peaks of the mountains. I went back to this location many times waiting for the yellow leaves to reach their climax. This particular afternoon felt just right, and I set up vertically to give the shot its power. The gurgling river flowed into the frame as the late afternoon light highlighted the majestic peaks, and all I needed was few seconds of total stillness in the surrounding leaves for a long exposure. The moment came, and I held the shutter closed for a full eight seconds allowing the film to soak up this special feeling. With the sound of the gurgling stream around me, it’s a moment I will never forget.
